Women’s Audi FIS Ski World Cup on Killington Mountain

The best female alpine skiers in the world will convene on Thanksgiving weekend here in snowy Killington, VT. Killington Mountain will yet again play host to the 2021 Women’s Audi FIS Ski World Cup.

This ultra-popular event will be the only World Cup expo in the United States this winter, After the Northeast went 25 years without hosting a World Cup!

The professional skiers and FIS were so pleased that they almost immediately announced the city would host the World Cup again in 2017 and 2018, and 2021. We’re now a few weeks away from this stunning display, which entertained 30,000 onlookers a few years ago.

Killington Mountain will likely see thousands more arrive to watch Mikaela Shiffrin attempt to best her second-place finish from 2017. After a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, head up to the Green Mountains for a one-of-a-kind spectacle! The Killington Group still has some availability for Thanksgiving weekend; book now before our luxurious vacation rentals quickly sell out!

Ladies’ Slalom

Ninety athletes from over 20 countries are expected to race down the Superstar trail on Killington Mountain. The event will be broadcast to millions of people on NBC and NBCSN. Shiffrin will likely perform in both events. She finished first in the giant slalom at the 2018 Winter Olympics, besting Ragnhild Mowinckel (Norway) and Federica Brignone (Italy). Shiffrin missed the slalom podium by 0.08 seconds at the same Olympics – a fact she hasn’t forgotten. Frida Hansdotter (Sweden), Wendy Holdener (Switzerland), and Katharina Gallhuber (Austria) all finished ahead of the two-time gold medal winner.

Live Entertainment

Not many free events feature such a diverse and talented music lineup. While the 2021 lineup is still TBD, Lucky onlookers at the last event had the chance to see growing Scottish superstar KT Tunstall, Boston-based Guster, reggae master Michael Franti, and the former #1 DJ in the world, Paul Oakenfold.

Daily Festivities

Killington Mountain will still be open to the public, so you can spend hours skiing or snowboarding on a slightly modified course. We take alpine skiing very seriously here in the Northeast, which is why there will be fireworks, parades, autograph sessions, and so much more! This event is free, but a limited amount of enhanced viewing tickets are available.

Both slalom and giant slalom involve skiing between poles or gates. Salmon is spaced closer together while giant salmon is set farther apart.

A local fan favorite, Mikaela Shiffrin, will be back again to compete in Killington Vermont. Mikaela Shiffrin attended Burke Mountain Academy in Vermont and grew up to become an American World Cup alpine ski racer with the United States Team. She is the reigning Overall World Cup champion and the reigning Olympic and world champion in slalom. Last year, she finished fifth in the giant slalom at Killington in her first World Cup race but returned the following day to take first place in the slalom, and we are ready to cheer her on once again.
