The Best Time To Visit Killington Mountain

So, when is the best time to visit Killington? The answer is right now (or as soon as possible). Killington is not only the largest ski area in Vermont, but it’s one of the best resorts in North America. Skiers and snowboarders visit us here at The Killington Group from all across the globe. The secret is out: Killington has the best wintertime thrills in New England, period. Booking a weekday getaway to Killington is the best way to avoid crowds, lines, and hiked prices. It’s also worth noting that very few visitors hit the slopes before noon, meaning that 9 a.m. to noon is the best time of the day to explore the ski area.

Hidden Gems In Killington

There are 155 different trails here in Killington, making it nearly impossible to try them all. It’s important to seek out under-utilized ski trails while on our mountains. There are several secluded hidden gems here in Killington that are beautiful, serene, and meticulously groomed. The moderately difficult “Great Northern – Middle” gashes across Snowdon Mountain, through a new tunnel, and sweeps down the edge of the mountain after a hairpin turn. A short but steep and slippery trail worth revisiting is the “North Star,” also on Snowdon Mountain.

Current Conditions

As of early January, there are 98 open trails, amassing 54 miles of groomed skiing, by far the most in New England. You could spend an entire week here in Killington and never carve down every trail. Thirteen lifts are currently operating with a few more likely to open in the coming weeks and months. The teams on the mountain have been running snow guns nonstop while the favorable weather allows, meaning we’re likely in for some spectacular conditions in February.
