Mountain Top Inn has a generous variety of offering for all visitors. This center covers 60 kilometers of trails with two kilometers being covered consistently by a snowmaking system. Within these trails are classic-styled ski tracks, skating lanes, and pet-friendly trails. Additionally, lessons and ski rental equipment are available.
Its history stretches back decades to its establishment in 1964. Having been in continuous operation for over fifty years, the Nordic Center at Mountain Top Inn is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, cross country ski touring center within the United States.
The legacy of Mountain Top Inn is elevated even more as they are a member of the Vermont Ski Areas Association.
Prices at the Mountain Top Inn are incredibly reasonable. Adult trail passes range from $18 for half a day to $22 for a full day. A season pass is an incredibly low $200. For children and senior citizens, a half day pass is $14 with a full day pass costing $18. A season pass is even less expensive than the adult passes at $160.
Cross country skiing near Killington at Mountain Top Inn features 24 trails, including ten pet-friendly trails, covering three levels of difficulty. These trails range from 0.5 to 20 kilometers. The longest trail, Round Robin, is 20 kilometers, pet-friendly, and ranges among the most difficult trails that Mountain Top Inn has to offer. Easier trails include Morning Glory, Turkey Track, Interfield, Looper, and Snow Goose with a distance ranging from 0.5 to 2.5 kilometers.
Where is the Nordic Center?
From Boston, simply take I-93 N to Concord and then take I-89 N until you reach Hartford where you will take US-4 W to Mendon. Once in Mendon, simply drive north until you reach the Nordic Center. From New York City, take I-87 N to Albany and then, briefly, take I-787 around the city to get on US-7. Take US-7 to Rutland where you will then drive north to reach the Nordic Center.
Mountain Top Inn Nordic Center is located at 195 Mountain Top Road in Chittenden, Vermont. The Center is within a four-hour drive of Boston and New York City. Flying is also an option as the nearest airport is approximately 30 minutes south of Chittenden at the Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport.
The Nordic Center is open 365 days a year for visitors from all around the world. but when Killington ski season finally rolls around, the fun really begins. Individuals can participate in skiing ranging from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., depending on the skiing pass that was purchased.

Ski rental prices can differ depending upon length and age. An adult ski rental for half a day is $20 while a full day is $25. For a child and senior citizens, a half a day rental is $14 while a full day rental is $18.
Lessons are offered for everyone. Group lessons (3+ people) are $25. Semi-private lessons (2+ people) are $35. Private skiing lessons are $55. All of these offerings are for one hour only.
