Our Guide To Killington Vermont Mountain Biking

Killington is much more than a ski resort. There’s natural beauty, great dining spots and breweries, a fun nightlife, and more. Did you know that Killington is also recognized as the best mountain bike resort east of the Rocky Mountains? When the winter crowd is long gone, biking becomes Killington Resort’s top attraction. Here are some of your best options for biking near our Killington condos for rent.

Killington Bike Park

The Killington Bike Park is the number one place to mountain bike. It has 29 official trails covering 30 miles of single track, about three quarters the size of Whistler. Even those not accustomed to mountain bike “parks” will find the trails engaging and challenging. Trails like Scarecrow and Goat Skull are a test of resilience, and the double black diamond trails are among the most challenging mountain trails in the East.

For newcomers to the sport, there are beginner-friendly trails such as Easy Street and Roller. Group and private lessons are available with experts. There is also a summer lift, costing between $48 for youth and $64 for adults per day, which gets you to various trailheads on the mountain to avoid wearing yourself out too quickly.

Of course, those up for a challenge can climb trails to the top of Killington Peak, at 3,050 vertical feet from the base.

The bike park offers many more special offers and activities. Besides lessons, there are bike park tours, electric mountain bike tours, rentals, and season passes. Plan a day or even week-long park adventure with family or friends. No matter your skill level, you will find trails to challenge and excite you.

More Biking

The bike park is not the only place in and around Killington to hit the trails. The Green Mountain trail system, located about 20 minutes from Killington, offers 20 miles of trails through pristine forest. Popular routes include Noodles, Escalator, and Luvin’ It trails.

A relatively new biking destination is Sherburne trails, which include 6 miles of trails perfect for novice bikers and anyone else needing a break. Pine Hill Park has 16-miles of single-track trail for those seeking a longer route. Between these trails and the resort, there are no shortages of trails in the Killington area.

Bike Racing & Clubs

For anyone with a competitive streak or if you just don’t like biking alone, consider participating in the weekly Killington Mountain Bike Club Bike Bum Races. The race is held at the bike park on Wednesday afternoons, and for just $35, bikers of all ages can compete and connect with each other.

Female bikers can join the bi-weekly Friday night Divas of Dirt meetings. Participation is free, and discounted lift tickets are available on the evenings when the women meet. This is a great opportunity for female bikers to connect with likeminded women.

Additionally, Killington Bike Park holds various races and special events throughout the year, so if you’re interested in watching or participating, keep an eye on their online calendar.
