Calvin Coolidge, “Silent Cal,” lived in this home for 11 years before departing for historical Black River Academy in Ludlow. Coolidge was in politics for only 22 years, including his six-year term as President of the United States (1923-1929). He passed away at the age of 60 and is buried down the road inside Plymouth Notch Cemetary. Take a tour through the meticulously-preserved homestead, complete with an informative video. Ben & Jerry’s Factory
Travel north to Waterbury VT for one of the best factory tours in the world at Ben & Jerry’s. This ice cream giant was founded in the nearby college town of Burlington 40 years ago by childhood friends Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield who originally wanted to start a bagel shop. Burlington residents immediately fell in love with Ben & Jerry’s unique flavor combinations. Ice cream lovers flock to Waterbury year-round to tour the factory and stroll through the Flavor Graveyard. The factory is located 66 miles north of Killington VT.
Simon Pearce Mill
You’ll find one of New England’s hidden gems in the small but beautiful town of Quechee, 26 miles east of Killington VT. Simon Pearce is an Irish-American entrepreneur who opened his first U.S. glassblowing facility in Quechee 37 years ago. Pearce learned his craft in Ireland and now has glass and pottery stores in six states. The Quechee-based Simon Pearce Mill rests on the edge of the beautiful Ottauquechee River near a covered bridge and a dam, which powers the facility. Anyone can stop in the mill to watch professional glassblowers create genuinely stunning works of art.
