It’s a true paradise for those who love the cold! The resort opens its doors daily to all from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the summer. During the winter, hours of operation are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. during the week and 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays. They offer 155 different trails you can help yourself to at any time. Better yet, capture the whole experience with your phone and a selfie stick to make it last forever!

To get a lift to these trails, keep in mind the resort’s got an excellent, no-cost gondola system that transports multiple families every half hour. Its lift capacity is 37,535 pounds per hour. That’s plenty of weight and tons of people to take at once! So, hop on any time.

This unique Killington, Vermont ski resort is known for its friendliness to outsiders. Bring your whole crew along, even pets! They’ll all be treated like family here.

Operating Schedule

If you’re wondering when the shuttle operates (or what daily schedule it runs on), you’ll be pleased to know that all operations run from late spring and early summer to mid-to-late fall each year. Activities can vary based on what you’d like to do while you’re up and about the resort. For instance, there’s the mountain bike park, typically open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and the Adventure Center, which runs during those typical hours (all based on season, weather, and with some holiday closure exceptions), too.

The KI Gondola, offering scenic roads throughout the area, runs during those same hours. It goes from June 23 through September 5 and runs once more from September 8 to October 10. Keep in mind their last daily gondola runs just half an hour before the final 5 p.m. closing time, so try to get there before then and sit back, relax, and see the town from above. It’s a visual sight for the senses, sure to wow anyone in any age group. Bring the whole family!

Base Lodges

If you ever want to hit the slopes, or even tailgate at the Killington slopes, start by checking out the resort’s base area, where you can see all the amenities for yourself, pick a favorite, and then plan out the rest your long and activity-filled week. There are three base lodges where you can get your bearings: the K1 Lodge, the Snowshed Lodge, and the Ramshead Lodge. If you have any questions about any spots on the map, specific landmarks nearby, or even the best ways to trail by foot or bike, ask any friendly associate at the kiosks of any lodge, and they’ll be more than happy to help.

Trails

If you pick up a trail map at any of the lodges (or at the resort’s front desk), you can see the 155+ trails on a marked sheet with information and symbols. Now don’t get confused — it’s a lot to take in at once. Just start by highlighting or marking one area at a time, and always be sure to mark your starting and ending points before beginning on any trail. Remember that the central map they give you marks out all the easier routes with a green circle, so it’s best to start there.

Woodward Mountain Park

It’s time to hit the slopes at Woodward Mountain Park, freestyle! You will see on many local ads that they call this the “Best Terrain Park in the East” for a reason. It’s even been featured in Snowboarder Magazine for its fantastic ski and snowboard tours and paths (some courses with obstacles and some without, to give you some variety). They have beginner slopes, intermediate slopes, and advanced slopes. There are many learning zones throughout, as well, featuring insight from proven pros in these sports, and all are fully hike-accessible, too. Take your time finding the best starting point for you.
